Office 365 E-mail Installation on Mobile Devices

Office 365 E-Mail Installation on Mobile Devices

This requires two applications: "Intune Company Portal" to allow safe sign-in on your device, and "Microsoft Outlook: Secure email, calendars & files". Both of these applications are published by Microsoft Corporation, the same provider as our e-mail services.

  1. Download "Microsoft Intune Company Portal" from your devices' app store

    1. Once the Microsoft Intune Company Portal app is installed, open it, and click the "Sign In" button, entering your @SJRState.edu e-mail address when prompted
    2. The app will then prompt you for your SJRState password
    3. After the loading screen and sign-in, infrastructure/connection app setup is complete.

  2. Next will be installation of the E-Mail client, "Microsoft Outlook: Secure email, calendar & files"
  3. The first prompt should ask you to add an account. After clicking "Add", you'll be prompted for your @SJRstate.edu E-Mail and password:
  4. After adding your account credentials, you'll be prompted to allow the app to become a device administrator. This is for allowing the app to check device security settings needed by policy: Locked screen, storage encryption, and monitoring of unlock attempts on the phone. We require mobile devices to possess a level of security controls to have SJRState E-Mail on them. Select "Activate" to allow these permissions, if desired.
  5. The application may prompt for adding additional accounts. You will not have multiple Outlook accounts for SJRState, so you can select "Maybe Later" if prompted.
  6. After reading informational prompts, you may reach a prompt requiring to set and confirm a 4-digit PIN
  7. You are now in your email! This app will also contain your email calendars. Just open the app and click the calendar

  8.

    Important tip:

Turn off Focused Inbox and Organize mail by Thread.

Click on your user tile in the top left, click the settings gear in the bottom left, and then scroll down to find the Focus Inbox and Organize mail by thread toggles. Click each to turn them off.
