Obtain a Hardware Token

SJR State highly encourages students to utilize the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app if available. The app is free and easy to use. However, we do recognize that not everyone will have access to a smartphone and is offering limited access to a hardware token. These tokens must be obtained via the SJR State campus bookstores with prior Helpdesk authorization. Please contact the Helpdesk to begin this process (contact information at the bottom of this article).

Linking to Your Account

Once you have obtained the token, the following guide will walk you through what you should expect to see and how to get the token added.

Go to www.sjrstate.edu, click the MySJRstate link, and click the MySJRstate button. Put in your college vikings email and click Next.
Enter your college account password and click Sign in.
On the "Let's keep your account secure" prompt, click Next.
The following prompt will suggest installing Microsoft Authenticator. Click Other options.
On the "Add a sign-in method", choose Hardware token.
On the "Register a hardware token" prompt, click Next.
With the SAFEID hardware token in hand, flip it over to find the serial number on the back. Enter this serial number in the prompt and click Next.
Give your token a name. This helps you identify it later when looking at your account security options. Click Next.
Press the red button on the token to display a time sensitive 6-digit code. Enter this code on the screen before it expires and click Next.
The screen will take a moment to refresh, and then you will be greeted with the message "Hardware token added". Click Done.
Now that the token has been confirmed as added, the process to continue sign-in will ask you to do the code from the token again. Do this and you will now be able to access your account and other SJR State resource.
